Roe deers are one of the main game species for Bulgarian hunting grounds.The best time for this kind of hunting is the beginning of the season as well as during the rutting period in late July and early August. The best areas for roe deer hunting are situated in Northern Bulgaria. The national record for roe deer is evaluated at 184.05 CIC pts. Trophy specimens weighing between 300 gr and 550 gr are available for shooting.

Scientific Name: Capreolus capreolus

Habitat: Roe Deer populations are found today in most terrain types: Deciduous forests, coniferous forests, farmland, marches and on the moors. In addition, measures the heights from the lowest lowlands to highlands, and mountains.

Decription: Smaller species of Deer that achieves a shoulder height of up to 75 cm. and a weight of 18-25 kg. The color of the fur is different from summer to winter. The summer coat is thin, the skin is beautiful reddish brown while thick winter coat is noble.
